Poorva karma
Poorva karma is the preparatory
step in two parts.
- OLETAION (snehan) therapy.
- FOEMENTATION (swedan) therapy.
- ABHYANG (massage) therapy.
Pre-purification
measures.
The
body needs to undergo various preparations, to prepare
it to let go of the toxins accumulated, through Panchkarma
cleansing. The two procedures are snehan and swedan.
Snehan is oil message consisting of Ayurvedic medicines
daily in increasing doses. And swedan is sweating and
is administered everyday following snehan. Steam can
also be enriched with Ayurvedic preparatory medicines
to further the effects of the treatment. The toxins
are loosened by swedan and they start moving towards
the gastro-intestinal tract. Snehan and swedan are given
for three to seven day resulting in the body toxins
loosening up, and the body getting ready to give-up
these toxins.
A
particular process from Panchkarma is then prescribed
according to the patient’s prakriti and disorder.
