The
six stages being
(1)
Sanchaya (Accumulation):- Non satisfactory
digestive processes give rise to disease accumulation.
Poor digestion produces Ama (toxins) in the gastrointestinal
tract. These toxins in turn give rise to doshic imbalances.
Kapha imbalance toxins are accumulated in the stomach.
Pitta imbalance toxins are accumulated in the intestine.
Vatta imbalance toxins are accumulated in the colon.
Due to the presence of one of these toxins, mild symptoms
start appearing, it is always wise to take steps to
eliminate these symptoms at an early stage. Ignorance
of these may lead to greater disorder in the body system.
(2)
Prakop (Aggravation):- Accumulated Doshas now
become strong and show signs of aggravation when affected
by food and other conditions. The toxins now get amassed
in a large degree to provoke symptoms in the G.I. tract.
(3)
Prasara (spread):- The toxins resulting from
doshic imbalances start overflowing in the body system
in this stage. Up to this stage the process of disease
accumulation is easily reversible and doshic balances
can be achieved with proper controls of factors.
Prashaman can also take place due to seasonal changes,
or changes in food habits. The treatment is also simple
not requiring many drugs.
(4)
Sthana samashraya (Augmentation):- Highly aggravated
toxins migrate, taking roots in Dhatus previously weakened
by imbalances and improper nutrition resulting in malfunction
of the affected system. From this stage degeneration
due to the disease starts. This stage produces the initial
symptoms of the disease. The forthcoming disease can
be predicted at this stage. The initial treatment can
also be very helpful at this stage in eradicating the
disease from the body.
(5)
Abhivyakti (Symptoms manifestation):- Distinct
and recognizable symptoms begin to appear from the affected
parts, of the body. Now it can be said that the disease
has taken roots and is beginning to show signs. From
here the physician will have to install first line of
treatment of disease. In previous kriya kal simply doshic
balance treatment was enough, now specific anti disease
treatment will also be necessary.
(6)
Bheda (Differentiation):- At this stage the
disease after years of accumulation becomes chronic
symptoms can be differentiated to completely understand
the nature of the disease. This is also a warning sign
for the spread of disease to other parts of the body.
