Dhatus
Sapta
Dhatus or seven vital tissue elements are the main building
blocks of the body, that forms the pillars of nourishment
and growth, and at the same time provides the foundation
for the body and mind to thrive upon.
(I)
Rasa Dhatu (fluid):- Rasa or fluid is derived
from the digested food, is the very nutritious essence
of the food that we eat, and it nourishes each and every
cell of the body.
(II)
Rakta Dhatu (Blood):- Rakta dhatu is the circulating
blood particles in the body which acts as a carrier
to provide nutrition and energy to all the parts of
the body as well as to remove the excreted material
from dead cells. It nourishes each and every cell with
pure oxygen from lungs for metabolic process to take
place and remove the carbon dioxide to keep the cells
of the body healthy.
(III) Mansa Dhatu (Muscle tissue):-
Mansa dhatu is the muscle tissue in the body. It provides
support and strength to the bone structure for smooth
movement, and also a base for meda dhatu.

Meda Dhatu:- Meda Dhatu consists of meda tissues
binding the asthi dhatu, with lubrication.
(V)
Asthi Dhatu:- Consists of bones, cartiledges.
The function of bones is to provide support to majja
dhatu and act in harmony with Mansa dhatu to provide
motor or movement function to the body.
(VI) Majja Dhatu:- Is the yellow and
red bone marrow tissue, it’s main function is
to fill up the Asthi and to provide fresh blood cells
in the circulation.
(VII)
Shukra Dhatu:- Shukra dhatu is the reproductive
element in the body, it also provides vitality to the
body tissues. Its main function is to maintain the continuity
of life from one creation to another.
The
Dhatus derive energy from each other, affecting one
can influencing other. They structurally design the
body. The Doshas functionally provide bioenergy. Mind
cooperatively manages the smooth functioning between
atman and panchmahabhutatmak (made up of the five great
elements) body.
