(Ten fold examination)
(1)
Body constitution (Prakriti) :-
Relates to the determination of the predominance of
Doshas in the body, or combination of the same. The
prakriti of a person can be pitta, vatta, kapha or a
combination of two of the above three.
(2)
Vikruti (pathological state):-
Relates to the complete analysis of a person’s
disease. Namely the analysis of symptoms, and disorders,
the prakriti and history of the disease, the affected
systems of the body, constitution and general state
of being of an individual.
(3)
Sara (tissue vitality):-
Broadly speaking there are seven vital tissues.
Lymph – rasa
Blood – Rakta
Muscle – mamsa
Adipose – meda
Bone – Asthi
Bone-marrow – majja
Reproductive tissue – sukra dhatu
Rasa
examination is done from the quality of skin, the general
appearance and signs and symptoms.
Blood
(Rakta) examination in the body is done by the appearance
of the eyes, mouth, tongue, lips, nails and soles of
feet.
Muscle
(mamsa) When there is no abnormality or ailment in mamsa
or muscles, all the parts and joints of the body appear
smooth and firm.
Meda
(adipose) When this particular tissue is in a state
of good condition, skin has a healthy and oily appearance,
which reflects on hair, nails, and other parts of the
body.
Asthi(bones)
The healthy bone marrow leads to healthy blood circulation
and stout, strong and stable joints.
Sukra
(reproductive tissue) When sukra dhatu is in perfect
health the person is strong vital and cheerfull.
Physical
build (samhanana) Examination of the overall appearance
of the body is carried out by well built healthy body,
symmetric bones, strong stable joints and sufficient
flesh and blod.
Body
measurement (pramana) Refers to two types of people
those that are strong, adjust easily to difficulties
and have excellent digestive capacity, and those that
are generally weak, intolerant to change and can have
only few food options.
Physical
constitution (satva) It refers to the mental quality
of the person. The more peacefull and thought free the
mind the better the quality of satva.
Digestive
capacity ( Ahara shakti) The capacity of the person
to ingest or digest food.
Capacity
of exercise (vyayam shakti) The general physical strength
to do hard work, it can be low, moderate or high.
Age
(vaya) Classified as childhood, middle age and old age,
it is very vital in determining the treatment of the
ailment
